Why animals?

Animals are fun to be around. They offer friendship, affection, and stories, creating a special bond with people that makes them loveable. What I love is painting these animals, capturing a mood, a moment, personality, or body language, to express their uniqueness.

My goal is not to give you a copy of a photograph. The photograph is a necessary reference, but in addition, I use the artist’s tools of composition, color, value, line, light, and shape, to create a likeness with vitality. By using this complicated interplay of tools, I can create a portrait that looks like your pet.

You want a painting you can love and cherish. I want that too plus a painting experience I can enjoy. The process of painting cats and dogs and other animals are as special to me as owning the finished painting will be to you.
